What’s in name - Hanover Makers

There’s a makers movement in Hanover County and I think it’s all in a name. Maybe it’s urban legend but I was told that our village name was given because of the large number of professional “blacksmiths” that lived in our community.

Another name for “blacksmith” is “mechanic” it was a “Village” where “Mechanics” lived and next thing you know you have, “Mechanicsville”.

So, here we are many years later still a community of makers and creators who enjoy to tinker and yearn to create.

As a maker myself I have a strong desire to meet fellow creators and learn about their path and learn about their art, their motivation and what keeps them creating.

Why and how we all arrived to this community is different but I thought it was long overdue for me to meet and spotlight as many neighbors as possible.
